If you are using a powder dye predissolve the dye in 2 cups of boiling water.
Stir the dye bath with a wooden stirring stick to evenly spread the dye.
There are sub types of pre dyeing which are.
Just prior to dyeing add several large potfuls of boiling water which will give your rug a much better color result.
It is also called spun dyeing or dope dyeing.
Add the amount of liquid or predissolved dye required for your rug.

If you have some old and verry washed jeans but you like to re fresh them simply just put them into the washing machine with a newly dyed piece.
Carpet dying is intended to make a carpet look good for a while longer.
Silicone drying mats are fast drying and easy to clean.
In time the color may wear from the carpet especially in areas of high traffic or sun exposure.

As for dying them without bleaching them you can try that first if you re going for a really dark colour.
If you don t like it you can always bleach them out and dye them again.
If you wish a more soft effect wait 2 3 washes before you wash the old piece with the newly died one.
